The 'Chateau of the Great Sun'

This beautiful 'Chateau of the Great Sun' is a 13th Century fortified chateau overlooking the Valle´de Fresquel with views to the Pyrenees and the Black Mountains.

The Chateau is available all year round for:

• small business meetings,
• weekend breaks and
• holiday bookings.

It is about 30 minutes from Carcassonne and convenient to both Toulouse and Carcassonne airports.

The Chateau is well situated to explore medieval towns, Cathar chateaux (impossibly perched on crags in the foothills of the Pyrenees), the caves and lakes of the Black Mountains, and to enjoy boating on the lovely Canal du Midi, as well as only 1hr 25 minutes from the ski slopes of the Pyrenees.

The Accommodation

An elegant salon with 17th Century fireplace, TV, DVD player and video and a playroom/reading room with selection of toys, DVD's and videos. 

There is also a small library to cater for a variety of interests. 

A traditional kitchen with old farmhouse sink, modern sink, oven, 3 hobs, microwave, dishwasher and plenty of cutlery, crockery, glassware and kitchen utensils. A utility room with fridge freezer, washing machine and drying area.

A magnificent family bedroom with coroneted Louis XV bed, beds for two children and an antique cot.

A pretty twin bedded room, a double bedroom with watchtower, another room with four poster bed and gallery and another with military tower.

Two further huge double bedrooms, one with gallery and one with Louis XV bed.

A well equipped nursery with cot.

There are 6 stylish bathrooms or shower rooms.

The chateau conservatively sleeps 14.

A baronial dining hall with traditional French oak Templar table seating 14, large bread oven and CD player. 

A magnificent music room with Bechstein concert grand.

A most impressive Louis XIII balustraded staircase.  

The chateau is centrally heated and is filled with antiques, attractive  furnishings and modern art.

It is a comfortable family home with lots of character.

The Pool and Garden

Outside, the chateau has a beautiful organic - shaped covered heated swimming pool, with terrace and sun-loungers. more pictures.

There is also a separate terrace with tables, chairs, a barbecue and lovely views to the South, and a fenced garden planted with aromatic plants and herbs.
